Privacy Policy

SaySplit is built to help groups chat and split expenses with as little friction as possible. This Privacy Policy explains what data we process, what we do not collect, and how users can manage their data.

This policy is designed to support total transparency and comply with Google Play Store 2026 privacy expectations.

SaySplit is designed for friction-free use and does not require traditional account data such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords.

Instead, the app generates an anonymous, unique Device UUID to identify your device. We use this UUID strictly to associate your device with your groups, balances, and chat history.

We do not intentionally collect other personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily provide it in a direct support email or contact form.

SaySplit treats your everyday conversations and your financial math differently.

Group Chat Syncing: To allow groups to chat and see real-time balances across different devices, all chat messages and transaction histories are securely transmitted to and stored on SaySplit's cloud servers.

Explicit AI Processing: Normal text messages are stored on our servers but are never analyzed by AI. Only messages that a user explicitly marks using the "Expense Mode" toggle are securely transmitted to our third-party provider, OpenAI (gpt-5-nano).

No AI Training: The transmission to OpenAI is strictly for the mathematical extraction of expense details (amount, payer, splits). SaySplit does not use any user data to train AI models, and our integration with OpenAI is explicitly configured via their API terms to ensure your submitted data is not used to train OpenAI's models.

We use the anonymous Device UUID and related app data to create and maintain groups, sync balances, support deep-link invitations, and keep expense histories available across supported sessions and backup flows. We use "Expense Mode" content only to parse and structure spending information when the user explicitly asks the app to do so.

We do not sell personal data. We share only the minimum data necessary with service providers that help us operate the app, such as our cloud hosting provider (to sync group chats) and OpenAI (strictly for parsing explicitly toggled expenses).

We retain anonymous Device UUID-linked app data only for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain sync and backups, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When deletion is requested and verified, associated data is removed from active systems, subject to reasonable backup and legal retention constraints.

Users have full control over their data footprint.

Via Email: Users can request deletion of their SaySplit data by contacting support@saysplit.app with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and including the Device UUID found in the app's settings screen.

Once the request is processed, SaySplit will delete the UUID-linked account data from our active servers. The user will lose access to all synced groups, balances, and backup recovery tied to that UUID.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect data in transit and at rest. While no method of transmission or storage is completely risk-free, we work diligently to limit access and secure the backend systems used to operate SaySplit.

SaySplit is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law to consent to data processing in their region. If you believe a child has provided data inappropriately, contact us immediately so we can investigate and safely delete the data.
